2019 CCCA UP AND COMER AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCED

TORONTO, ON – Sarah Sidhu, CIC.C is the winner of the 2019 Up and Comer Award presented by the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, an arm of the Canadian Bar Association.

The Up and Comer Award recognizes a regular member who, less than 15 years after being called to the bar, demonstrates strong participation at any level within the profession, the CCCA, and the organization that they serve.

Ms. Sidhu is General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Destination Canada in Vancouver. She is responsible for all legal, privacy and governance matters at the Crown corporation, including managing the relationship with the Chair and Board of Directors. Ms. Sidhu is an expert in a wide range of jurisdictional issues, providing support and guidance to a dispersed national management team. She is also an excellent role model at work, living proof of her belief that helping others in your community strengthens your leadership and teambuilding skills.

Ms. Sidhu’s volunteer activities are as impressive as her professional accomplishments. She was a long-time Board member of the United Way of the Lower Mainland and MusicFest Vancouver and is currently a Director of the Vancouver Foundation. As one of her nominators wrote, “Sarah is always thinking about community impact and what she can do to make life easier for those who are struggling.”

The Up and Comer Award will be presented during the CCCA 2019 “Light the Fire” National Conference, on the afternoon of Monday, April 8, 2019 in Toronto, along with various other CCCA awards.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:

This year the annual conference is co-chaired by Charlene Theodore, In-House Counsel, Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association, and Julia Shin Doi, General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Governors, Ryerson University and will be held at the Hilton Toronto in Toronto from April 7 – 9, 2019.
