2019 CCCA COMMUNITY BUILDER AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCED

TORONTO, ON – Karen Gilmore is the winner of the 2019 Community Builder Award, presented by the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, part of the Canadian Bar Association.

The Community Builder Award recognizes pro bono, community or corporate social responsibility efforts.

Ms. Gilmore is the Vice-President and General Counsel at Fulmer Capital Partners Inc. in Vancouver and is a dedicated volunteer in her community. Among her many roles, she’s acted as a director of the YWCA Metro Vancouver for eight years, including two years as Chair. Later, she was elected to the Board of the YWCA Canada, becoming Chair of that Board in 2018.   

Ms. Gilmore also focuses her volunteer efforts on the legal community. She recently founded the BC Chapter of Women General Counsel Canada, creating a unique system of support and mentoring for women GCs in BC. Her commitment to women and community-building is an inspiration to the profession.

The Community Builder Award will be presented during the CCCA 2019 “Light the Fire” National Conference, on the afternoon of Monday, April 8, 2019 in Toronto, ON along with various other CCCA awards.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:

This year the annual conference is co-chaired by Charlene Theodore, In-House Counsel, Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association, and Julia Shin Doi, General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Governors, Ryerson University and will be held at the Hilton Toronto in Toronto from April 7 – 9, 2019.
