Canadian Corporate Counsel Association celebrates its 25th Anniversary year

TORONTO – 2012-2013 marks the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association’s (CCCA) 25th anniversary. Founded in early 1988, the CCCA now boasts over 10,400 diverse and engaged members across Canada, positioning it as the national voice and forum for in-house counsel in Canada.

“CCCA is at the forefront of what is a quickly growing and highly influential profession,” says CCCA Chair Grant Borbridge, of Calgary. “During this year of celebration, we will be moving ahead with a number of advocacy, diversity and leadership initiatives.”

The CCCA has many events and initiatives planned throughout the year to mark the 25th anniversary celebrations, including:

• The National Spring Conference (April 14-16, 2013), featuring:

  • a gala event commemorating the last 25 years
  • an awards ceremony, during which four new awards will be presented in addition to the flagship R.V.A. Jones Award
  • a professional development program exploring the next 25 years of the Canadian in-house profession
  • the release of the 2013 In-House Counsel Barometer Survey
  • ground-breaking research on gender in the profession
• A robust roster of webinars and in-person professional development events being offered across Canada and in both official languages

• The launch of a CCCA Speakers Bureau, showcasing CCCA’s thought leaders

• A series of articles in CCCA Magazine exploring the association’s progress over the last quarter-century

• The development of partnerships with international in-house counsel associations to mutually benefit all members

“For 25 years, CCCA’s leadership and our ability to read the pulse of the in-house bar has led us to create forward-looking programs and services that speak to these and other kinds of issues unique to our profession,” concludes Mr. Borbridge.

An integral group within the 37,000-member Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the interests of Canadian corporate counsel. CCCA provides uniquely Canadian perspectives, resources, tools, professional development, conferences and peer-to-peer networking opportunities.
